The sun and warmer weather yesterday got me thinking about summer pole vaulting.  Please review these key events, competitions and special opportunities available to club members this summer!  Participation in some of the special events require action quickly!

WIAA State Track Meet at UW-Lacrosse – May 31 – June 1

• As usual, GVPV will be at the meet and welcome you to join us to cheer on your fellow club members in GVPV!
• As usual, GVPV will be creating new shirts for this meet – if you have design ideas for the 213 shirt please let me know.

Summer PV Training at Wisconsin Lutheran College

• Summer pole vault training sessions are available for in the store today!  Details about the summer training session are available on the Summer Training Session page.  Note: individual practices can only be purchased day of.
  
• Practices will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6-8:30ish at Wisconsin Lutheran College from June 5 – July 31.

Wisconsin USATF Meet at Carroll College in Waukesha, WI on June 15-16

• Available to IL and WI based club members, this competition is a great opportunity for GVPV to compete after the high school season.
• Save the date for June 15 for youth pole vault and June 16 for adult competition.

National & Junior National Championships at Drake University – June 19-23

• The National and Junior National Championships are being held in Des Moines Iowa.  in 2013, which provides a unique opportunity to watch the best athletes in the country.
• The Junior National Championships are for youth under the age of 20, GVPV is hopeful to take an athlete to this competition for the second year in a row.  Qualifying height is 16-5 for jr. men and 13-1 for jr. women.
• As we are working on logistics please show your interest by making a $100 deposit.  The deposit will be applied to your ticket ($60) and hotel costs.

SkyJumpers Pole Vault Camp at UW-Stevens Point – June 23-26

• One of my good friends, Jan Johnson, puts on this excellent camp in Stevens Point.  I learned a lot of what I know from Jan and he and I work together on many PV projects.
• If anyone is interested in going to the Championship meets in Des Moines and to SkyJumpers we’ll figure out an early return for those people.

Grand Haven Beach Vault - July 13-14

• A great competition opportunity with 100s of vaulters on the shores of Lake Michigan in Grand Haven, Michigan.
• Includes an elite competition on Friday evening with some of the area’s best pole vaulters.
• This will cost $80 for the competition fees plus travel expenses.
• If you are interested in participating in this competition register on the Grand Haven website and submit a $50 deposit.  Deposits will be used towards transportation costs.

End of Season Party – July 31

• To celebrate all of your accomplishments throughout the season, and to hang out with friends we will plan on getting together after practice on July 31.  
• We’ve done this at Edwardo’s in the past with good success, but I’m open to other suggestions if you have them.
